Veterans Day 2022

Today is Veterans Day when we honor the men and women who have served in the United States military. The holiday dates back to the end of World War I when it was called Armistice Day.

Throughout the United States, there are a variety of museums and history sites that share the story of our nation’s veterans. First and foremost is Arlington National Cemetery, around 400,000 veterans are laid to rest. The National World War I Museum and Memorial in Kansas City is devoted to the “war to end all wars.” The National World War II Museum is located in New Orleans.

The memorials on the National Mall are icons of America. These include the World War II Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, and the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. Finally, countless local museums and cemeteries across the country share the individual stories of local veterans.

This Veterans Day, I hope you will take time out of your day to visit or plan a trip to a museum near you.
