Uraniborg

This 1665 diagram shows the castle of Uraniborg, a Danish observatory founded by Tycho Brahe. The castle was built from 1576 to 1580 and was the last major observatory built without a telescope. The data collected here was used to prove that the earth orbited the sun. Uraniborg was abandoned in 1597.
