Solomon Northup

Solomon Northup was sold into slavery in 1841 and wrote about his harsh experiences in his 1853 memoir Twelve Years a Slave. Northup’s ultimate fate is unknown: some believe he was kidnapped and enslaved again, while others believe he died of natural causes.
