Rievaulx Abbey

Rievaulx Abbey in Northern England was founded in 1132, and quickly grew into one of the largest abbeys in the country. The site was abandoned when Henry VIII dissolved all monasteries in England in the 1530s and 1540s. Since then, the ruins of the abbey have become a popular site to visit.
