Port of Ripetta

This painting is titled “View of the Port of Ripetta, Rome,” but this title is only half accurate. The large dramatic staircases are based on the Port of Ripetta, built in 1704 and demolished in 1901. At the top of the stairs is the Pantheon, which is not located this close to the old port.
