Mt. Tom Summit House

In 1890, entrepreneur William Loomis built a railroad to the top of Massachusetts’s Mount Tom. At the mountain’s summit, he constructed a house with an observation deck. After it was destroyed in a 1900 fire, the structure shown in the postcard was constructed. It had an observatory, dining room, stage, and large loggias. In 1929, it was destroyed in another fire.
