Mission San Juan Bautista was built in 1797 and is located in California. The steeple shown in this 1920 photograph was not original to the building and was removed during a 1949 restoration. The church was featured in the 1958 Alfred Hitchcock film Vertigo, and the bell tower shown in the film was created using special effects.
