Kiritimati (Christmas Island)

This 1785 map shows Kiritimati, an island in the Pacific Island. Captain James Cook visited the island on December 24, 1777 and gave it the name “Christmas Island.” Cook made this map with William Bligh, who later commanded the HMS Bounty during the infamous mutiny.
