Johns Hopkins Hospital

Writer: Andrew J. BramlettAndrew J. Bramlett

The postcard shows Johns Hopkins Hospital before 1907. The hospital opened in 1889, thirteen years after Johns Hopkins University was founded. Both the school and hospital were named for merchant and philanthropist Johns Hopkins, whose unique first name was the maiden name of his great-grandmother.
