This postcard shows Hoover Dam in Nevada under its previous name, Boulder Dam. When construction began in 1930, the plan was to name the dam after President Herbert Hoover. Because his presidency proved unpopular, the dam became known as Boulder Dam, and the original name would not be restored until 1947.
