Heidelberg Castle

Germany’s Heidelberg Castle was built before 1214, and various lightning strikes, wars, and fires have caused the castle to be destroyed and rebuilt several times in its long history. It is well-known now as a tourist site, with notable visitors including artist J. M. W. Turner and Mark Twain.
