Grand Canyon

Efforts to turn the Grand Canyon into a national park date back to 1882, when a bill was introduced by Benjamin Harrison. The effort was not initially successful. The scenic landscape was made a national monument by Theodore Roosevelt in 1906, and it became a national park in 1919.
