Campus Martius

The Campus Martius was a park located in the heart of Downtown Detroit from the 1850s until the early 1900s, when it was paved over to accommodate wider streets. This postcard was mailed in 1907, near the end of the park’s life. All of the buildings surrounding the park in this picture have been demolished. In 2004, a new park with the same name was opened on the site of the original.
