This photograph shows the 1900 Christmas party of the University of Leipzig’s physical chemistry department. Two Nobel laureates are shown: Jacobus Henricus van 't Hoff and Otto Hahn. Also present was Gilbert N. Lewis, who controversially never received the prize despite earning forty-one nominations.
